La vicepresidenta primera del Gobierno, María Teresa Fernández de la Vega, aseguró hoy que la subida de impuestos de los carburantes y el tabaco aprobada el viernes servirá, entre otras cuestiones, para invertir 400 millones de euros más en atención a la Dependencia.
Fernández de la Vega se refirió a esa decisión en la intervención con la que inauguró el encuentro de mujeres parlamentarias de América Latina y Caribe que se celebra desde hoy en Madrid.
La vicepresidenta subrayó que para un Gobierno progresista como el que ella representa, "es de justicia que en tiempos de crisis como los actuales se refuerce la protección social y se apoye a los que necesitan la solidaridad de todos".
Criticó "la demagogia fácil" y el "olvido del interés general" que ejerce siempre la derecha.
Por el contrario, dijo, el Gobierno afronta los problemas económicos "con menos egoísmo y más amparo", y con "menos sectarismo y más ciudadanía".
"Esa es la ecuación que demanda el tiempo que vivimos y esa es la ecuación que estamos aplicando", afirmó Fernández de la Vega.
