Aznar, ayer, pasa por detrás de Rajoy y Fraga. EFE
Pese a cualquier evidencia, el presidente fundador del PP, Manuel Fraga, ha negado que José María Aznar le ofreciera un saludo frío a su llegada al congreso del PP, como han interpretado los medios de comunicación.
En declaraciones a la Cadena Ser, el senador popular ha comentado que habló ayer con el ex presidente del Gobierno "todo el tiempo" y hace poco almorzaron juntos.
Habría sido "sorprendente", ha añadido, que se saludara de manera gélida con "el hombre al que yo abrí paso generosamente" para pilotar el PP, y con el que tuvo gestos como el de romper en el cónclave de Sevilla la carta de dimisión anticipada que le entregó.
Para Fraga, Aznar quiere que este congreso de Valencia salga bien, porque va a ser un congreso "que no pasará página de la etapa de Aznar, sino que va a ir más allá de Aznar, en la misma dirección". "Es el mismo partido puesto al día, un partido de centro y reformista", ha subrayado.
Sobre el futuro de Rajoy, no quiso aventurar si será candidato a La Moncloa. "Antes de las próximas elecciones habrá un nuevo congreso que designará el candidato y esperemos que se acertará también. Él, ahora, va a seguir llevando el partido hacia adelante".
El fundador del PP se ha mostrado convencido de que no habrá voto de castigo a Rajoy en Valencia: "el congreso no va por ese camino; en la ponencia política se discute todo, bien y se llegan a acuerdos".
La próxima secretaria general del PP, María Dolores de Cospedal, ha afirmado que, aunque es "lógico" que la gente se fije en las anécdotas del Congreso, "lo importante es el proyecto que va a salir" de aquí y que, a su juicio, es "la única alternativa que puede tener España".
La dirigente conservadora se mostró convencida de que al final del cónclave el partido estará más "ilusionado" y se ratificará como "una alternativa, la única que puede tener España".
La también presidenta del PP castellanomanchego, que fue de las más madrugadoras del que será el nuevo equipo directivo del partido, quiso agradecer a sus compañeros "el cariño, el afecto y el apoyo" con el que han recibido la propuesta de su nombramiento.
