El alcalde de Madrid, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, ha desligado su futuro político de la elección de la capital española como sede de los Juegos Olímpicos de 2016. Según él, una vez que el COI se pronuncie al respeto el próximo dos de octubre, seguirá al pie del cañón aunque la ciudad no sea elegida para albergar las Olimpiadas.
Gallardón tiró de currículo para recordar que siempre completó sus legislaturas al frente del Ayuntamiento y la Comunidad de Madrid, informa EFE. Una cuestión de "compromiso con los ciudadanos", algo que según él no tenían sus contrincantes electorales (Leguina, Almeida, Lissavetzky, Jiménez y Sebastián), que terminaron marchándose.
Gallardón, que emuló a Eduardo Punset cuando dijo que en este país "todo lo que no es ciencia es chismorreo", también negó que entre en sus planes figure la intención de sustituir a María Dolores de Cospedal en la secretaría general del Partido Popular. A preguntas de los periodistas, su respuesta fue rotunda y monosilábica: "No".
