El alcalde de Madrid, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardón, pidió hoy a los miembros del COI que confíen en esta ciudad "para crear un nuevo modelo de convivencia en el que todo el mundo esté implicado y se beneficie de los Juegos de una forma nunca vista antes de 2016".
Tras recordar que 180 nacionalidades conviven en Madrid, aseguró: "Nuestros nuevos ciudadanos, nuestros nuevos atletas, sembrarán la semilla olímpica entre sus familias en los cinco continentes".
Ruiz-Gallardón se dirigió con estos argumentos a los cerca de un centenar de miembros del COI reunidos en Lausana para conocer de primera mano los proyectos de las cuatro aspirantes a los Juegos de 2016, Madrid, Tokio, Río de Janeiro y Chicago.
El alcalde anunció que todos los deportes tendrán su propia instalación en Madrid después de los Juegos y que habrá una hora más de Educación Física en los colegios.
Aumentará el turismo y las oportunidades de negocio, se regenerarán 800 hectáreas de zonas verdes y se promoverá la cultura hispánica y mediterránea, citó el alcalde entre otros beneficios que conllevarían los Juegos.
La exposición de Madrid -indicaron fuentes del Ayuntamiento, dado que se desarrolló a puerta cerrada-, se dividió en tres partes: misión y visión, proyecto técnico y la opción más segura, con referencias al 77% de instalaciones ya disponibles, a las inversiones 100% garantizadas y al apoyo del 93,6% de los españoles.
