El músico y político brasileño Gilberto Gil actuará mañana, acompañado por la Broadband Band, dentro del IV Festival de las Artes de Castilla y León, que se celebra en Salamanca hasta el próximo 14 de junio.
El artista, uno de los músicos protagonistas de la renovación de los sonidos brasileños, se subirá al escenario salmantino de la Plaza Mayor para mostrar la bossa-nova que caracteriza su trabajo.
Nacido en Bahía en 1942, Gilberto Gil dirigió el movimiento sociopolítico Tropicalia, movimiento cultural más importante de Brasil desde la bossa nova, junto con su compañero músico Caetano Veloso.
La dictadura militar de Brasil provocó su exilio a Inglaterra en 1969, donde absorbió diversos elementos de la cultura pop internacional, que tradujo a su propia música.
Durante los últimos cuatro años se ha tomado un descanso en su carrera musical, en la que ha grabado 52 discos incluyendo un homenaje a Bob Marley, para ser ministro de Cultura de Brasil.
Por otra parte, la compañía alemana Andcompany&Co acude al Festival de las Artes de Castilla y León con el estreno nacional de "Time Republic", una extravagante espectáculo inspirado en la carrera espacial del Sputnik y que según ha explicado en rueda de prensa, Alexander Karschnia, uno de los fundadores del grupo, se basa en una "remezcla de la historia del siglo XX".
Por su parte, la compañía francesa Les Commandos Percu pondrá esta noche en escena la obra "Trés Mechant (s) B.M.P. Bombs Per Minute" pese a los problemas que ha tenido con la huelga de transportistas para que sus camiones llegarán a Salamanca, puesto que según Raymond Gabriel, director de la compañía, uno de sus camiones fue apedreado al cruzar la frontera.
