El Consejo de Ministros ha aprobado hoy conceder a los cocineros Ferran Adrià y Juan María Arzak la Gran Cruz de la Orden del Mérito Civil por su aportación profesional en interés de España.
Esta condecoración, propuesta por el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y creada por Alfonso XIII, reconoce los méritos de carácter civil a personas que hayan prestado servicios relevantes para el Estado con trabajos extraordinarios, provechosas iniciativas o con constancia ejemplar en el cumplimiento de sus deberes.
El donostiarra Arzak, de 66 años, y el barcelonés Adrià, de 47, son dos de los cocineros españoles con más fama internacional.
El Consejo de Ministros también ha concedido la misma distinción al ex embajador de Letonia en España Imants Viesturs Liegis.
