Corea del Sur confirmó hoy la muerte en Yemen de una surcoreana que fue secuestrada la semana pasada junto con siete alemanes y un británico, informó hoy el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores.
"No podemos contener la ira y la consternación (por el asesinato) que condenamos de forma enérgica", dijo un portavoz del Ministerio de Exteriores surcoreano.
El Gobierno de Yemen confirmó el domingo pasado que habían encontrado los cuerpos de tres de las mujeres secuestradas, una de las cuales resultó ser la surcoreana Eom Young-sun.
Eom, una profesora de 34 años, fue secuestrada el pasado viernes junto con siete alemanes y un británico en la provincia de Saada, en el norte de Yemen, cuando se encontraba de excursión en una zona situada a 240 kilómetros al noroeste de la capital yemení, Saná.
La profesora impartía desde agosto pasado clases particulares a hijos de trabajadores surcoreanos residentes en Saada y tenía previsto volver en agosto a Seúl.
Aún no se ha identificado al grupo de secuestradores, aunque las investigaciones apuntan a que el delito pudo ser perpetrado por la organización chií "Yamaa al Huti", uno de los grupos insurgentes que operan en el norte del país.
El Gobierno de Seúl dijo en un comunicado que cooperará estrechamente con Alemania y Gran Bretaña para esclarecer el hecho, al tiempo que aseguró que colaborará con la comunidad internacional en la lucha contra el terrorismo.
