El veterano delantero sueco Henrik Larsson ha anunciado que finalizará su carrera como futbolista profesional tras el partido que su actual club, Helsingborg, jugará por la liga doméstica ante el Elfsborg el 1 de noviembre.
El atacante de 38 años, que disfrutó de grandes éxitos en el Feyernoord de Holanda, Celtic de Escocia y Barcelona de España, jugó su último partido para la selección sueca el 10 de octubre en la derrota 1-0 ante Dinamarca, por la eliminatoria europea para el Mundial 2010.
Además, tuvo un breve paso a préstamo por el Manchester United inglés."Ahora sé que estoy 100% seguro de mi decisión de parar (de jugar). Tengo 38 (años) y es suficiente", aseguró Larsson en un comunicado.
"Pensaré en lo que voy a hacer después. Primero que nada necesito un tiempo para adaptar mi vida después del fútbol", agregó.
Larsson ganó la Liga de Campeones de Europa con el Barcelona en el 2006, y también fue parte del reconocido equipo de Suecia que logró el tercer puesto en el Mundial de Estados Unidos 1994.
El delantero recibió además la Bota de Oro en el 2001, tras haber sido el máximo goleador de la temporada en Europa.
