Israel espera que el nuevo gobierno surgido de las elecciones de ayer en el Líbano actúe para impedir los ataques contra su territorio, señaló hoy en un comunicado el ministerio israelí de Asuntos Exteriores.
"El Gobierno del Líbano debe actuar para reforzar la estabilidad y la seguridad en el país, cesar el contrabando de armas hacia su territorio, y aplicar las resoluciones del Consejo de Seguridad (de la ONU), y en primer lugar las 1559 y la 1701", reza el comunicado.
La última de esas resoluciones ponía fin a la guerra librada en el verano de 2006 entre Israel y la milicia chií libanesa Hizbulá, y abría el camino al despliegue de miles de fuerzas de la ONU en territorio libanés para supervisar su cumplimiento.
El Ministerio israelí afirma que Israel sigue con especial atención los acontecimientos políticos en el país vecino y que cualquier gobierno que se forme en Beirut debe asegurar que "el Líbano no será utilizado como una base para la violencia contra el Estado de Israel y los israelíes".
Concluye la nota diciendo que el Estado judío considera al gobierno libanés responsable de cualquier actividad militar o de otro tipo hostil que se produzca en el territorio de ese país.
Según datos no oficiales avanzados por varios medios y grupos políticos desde primeras horas de la madrugada en el Líbano, la alianza prooccidental Fuerzas del 14 de Marzo, ha obtenido la victoria en los comicios, con alrededor de 70 escaños.
