Los jóvenes prueban las drogas cada vez más tarde. Lo recoge la última Encuesta Estatal sobre Uso de Drogas en Enseñanzas Secundarias (Estudes), realizada a partir de 30.183 entrevistas realizadas a estudiantes de 14 a 18 años en 2008, que presentó ayer la ministra de Sanidad y Política Social, Trinidad Jiménez.
Los jóvenes prueban su primera bebida alcohólica a los 13 años y siete meses (un año y un mes más tarde que en la encuesta anterior, de 2006) y fuman su primer cigarro a los 13 años y tres meses (dos meses de más tarde).
La edad de inicio en el consumo diario de tabaco son los 15 años y un mes (por 14 y dos meses en 2006), y tienen 15 años y medio cuando empiezan a consumir alcohol cada semana (antes, 15 años).
Jiménez alertó de un cambio de patrón en el consumo de alcohol entre los estudiantes de Secundaria: "No ha aumentado el número de consumidores, pero sí aumentan las borracheras en fin de semana y nos preocupa que se produzcan excesos en el consumo".
Según la encuesta, uno de cada tres estudiantes se había emborrachado en el mes previo y seis de cada diez al menos la probó en ese periodo. Tras el alcohol, las drogas más consumidas siguen siendo el tabaco (un 32,4% fumó en el último mes) y el cannabis (20,1%). En ambos casos, el consumo se mantiene como en 2006.
El consumo de cannabis sigue fijo en los 14 años y medio. El porcentaje de jóvenes que admite esnifar cocaína con asiduidad ha retrocedido en dos años del 2,3% al 2%.
La ministra concluyó que ha aumentado la percepción de riesgo del consumo de drogas al tiempo que desciende la percepción sobre su disponibilidad.
