Un libro sobre el camino de Santiago, "Ich bin dann mal weg" ("Me marcho"), del humorista alemán Hape Kerkeling, ha cedido el primer lugar en la lista de más vendidos en Alemania tras cien semanas de liderato.
Kerkeling aparece esta semana "sólo" en el segundo lugar en la categoría de no ficción de la lista de "bestsellers" de la revista "Der Spiegel".
El libro de Kerkeling apareció el 22 de mayo de 2006, con una primera edición de 50.000 ejemplares, y fue desde el primer momento un éxito de ventas, hasta el punto de que llegó a vender hasta 20.000 ejemplares diarios.
Hasta ahora, según la editorial Malik, Kerkeling ha vendido más de tres millones de ejemplares lo que convierte a "Ich bin dann mal weg" en uno de los libros de no ficción más exitosos en Alemania desde 1945.
El humorista de televisión -conocido ante todo por sus imitaciones de personajes famosos- hizo el camino de Santiago para salir de una crisis personal y describió su experiencia en el libro en clave humorística, cautivando al público aunque no a la crítica literaria.
La directora de la revista "Literaturen", Sigrid Löffler, se mostró extrañada del éxito de Kerkeling, cuando éste estaba en su apogeo, y remitió a un libro sobre el mismo tema de Cees Nooteboom, que en su opinión hubiera merecido más éxito.
"Cees Nooteboom escribió un buen libro sobre el camino de Santiago y apenas fue registrado, Paulo Coelho escribió un libro imbécil sobre el mismo tema y tuvo éxito y ahora Kerkeling sale con un libro todavía más imbécil y ocurre esto", dijo Löffler.
