El ministro español de Exteriores, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, aseguró hoy que la embajada y los consulados de España en México están en "alerta permanente" ante la gripe porcina, pero descartó por el momento un posible plan para evacuar a los españoles que se encuentran en el país latinoamericano.
En declaraciones a los periodistas tras intervenir en la Asamblea Parlamentaria del Consejo de Europa, el jefe de la diplomacia española señaló que la colonia española en México está identificada y se encuentra "tranquila".
No obstante, añadió, la embajada y los consulados están vigilantes y trabajando por si es necesario adoptar alguna iniciativa.
Hoy España enviará a México 70.000 mascarillas con cargo al millón de euros que ha acordado conceder al país para ayudarle en la lucha contra la extensión del virus.
Según explicó Moratinos, las autoridades mexicanas les han comunicado que ésa es por el momento una de sus principales necesidades.
No quiso pronunciarse sobre la propuesta francesa de suspender los vuelos a México para frenar la propagación del virus y abogó por esperar a los resultados de la reunión que hoy mantiene en Bruselas los ministros de Sanidad de los veintisiete países miembros.
Según explicó, está en contacto permanente con la titular de Sanidad española, Trinidad Jiménez, y el objetivo del Gobierno es conocer los datos que presentan las autoridades sanitarias europeas para tomar una decisión de consenso en el marco comunitario.
