Manuel R.J., de 78 años, detenido por la muerte de su mujer, Paulina R.R., de 81 años, la asfixió presuntamente con una venda cuando ésta estaba sentada en el sofá del domicilio familiar en el número 8 de la calle Fuente de la Cruz de Carcabuey.
Según han informado a Efe fuentes de la investigación, los hechos sucedieron a primera hora de la tarde de hoy y la anciana padecía una enfermedad grave que la había llevado al Hospital Infanta Margarita de Cabra, donde había sido dada de alta recientemente.
Han precisado que, según las primeras investigaciones, no consta ninguna denuncia por parte de la fallecida ni tampoco existe ninguna orden de protección.
Según ha podido saber Efe, el matrimonio tenía un único hijo que vivía en Tarragona, y en Carcabuey sólo vivían sobrinos.
La directora del Instituto Andaluz de la Mujer en Córdoba, María Paz Gutiérrez, ha indicado a Efe que, según los primeros datos que se conocen, "no estamos ante un caso típico de violencia de género entre una pareja sino que parece que se trata de un caso de desesperación ante una situación familiar delicada y casi insostenible, ya que el hombre era el cuidador de la mujer".
Gutiérrez ha explicado que el organismo que dirige y la Junta de Andalucía se han puesto a disposición tanto del Ayuntamiento de Carcabuey como del hijo para prestarle todo el apoyo psicológico y jurídico que precisen.
