Al menos dos personas han muerto y tres han resultado heridas en un ataque insurgente con misiles contra un convoy de suministros de la OTAN en la demarcación tribal paquistaní de Khyber, fronteriza con Afganistán, informó hoy una fuente oficial.
Supuestos miembros de la insurgencia talibán dispararon misiles contra el convoy que transportaba provisiones para las tropas de la Alianza Atlántica desplegadas en Afganistán en la zona de Landi Kotal, según la fuente, citada por la cadena de televisión "Dawn".
De acuerdo con esta versión, las fuerzas de seguridad paquistaníes respondieron al ataque y se desencadenó un intenso tiroteo.
Desde finales de 2008, los insurgentes han lanzado varios ataques contra los almacenes y camiones de suministro de la OTAN, en los que varios centenares de vehículos y contenedores han sido destruidos.
La mayor parte de los suministros, como alimentos y combustible para abastecer a las fuerzas de la OTAN y de la coalición estadounidense destacadas en Afganistán, se transportan a través del paso estratégico de Khyber, que comunica Pakistán con Afganistán.
