El español Rafael Nadal luchará mañana contra el ruso Nikolay Davydenko por convertirse en el primer ganador del Masters 1000 de Shanghai, tras vencer a su compatriota Feliciano López por 6-1 y 3-0 y retirada por lesión.
En tan solo 50 minutos, debido a la lesión de su rival en el pie derecho, el jugador de Manacor sentenció el sexto duelo entre ambos, ahora con ventaja de Rafa por 5-1.
Feliciano López no pudo ganar ni uno de sus tres servicios en el primer set, y al acabar este manga fue atendido en la pista. Le vendaron el pie derecho y le suministraron un calmante, y pudo continuar, pero sin ofrecer mucha resistencia a Nadal.
Tras encajar el 3-0 en el segundo set, el toledano decidió retirarse en la primera semifinal de un Masters 1000 de su carrera. "Es que me duele al plantar el pie en el suelo y no puedo caminar", le dijo Feliciano a Nadal en la red, tras convertirse en el noveno jugador que se retira lesionado en este torneo.
Antes, Davydenko se había deshecho del serbio Novak Djokovic, segundo favorito, por 4-6, 6-4 y 7-6 (1) en tres horas y dos minutos de trepidante tenis.
