El tenista español Rafael Nadal, número dos del mundo, dijo el jueves que espera que la lesión de rodilla que le obligó a retirarse del Abierto de Australia esté curada en una semana o menos.
"No estoy nada preocupado", dijo Nadal a periodistas en el aeropuerto de Barcelona antes de dirigirse a una clínica para realizarse exámenes bajo el control del médico de la Federación Española de Tenis Ángel Ruiz Cotorro.
"El alcance de mi lesión lo sabré cuando me den el resultado de las pruebas dentro de unos días (...) Tengo un pinchazo y en una semana o menos estaré recuperado", agregó.
La lesión forzó al campeón defensor a retirarse el martes de su partido de cuartos de final en Melbourne Park ante Andy Murray.
El británico había ganado los primeros dos sets antes de que Nadal pidiera asistencia médica y se abandonara el partido unos minutos después.
Nadal dijo que la lesión era la misma que no le permitió defender su corona en Wimbledon el año pasado y lo mantuvo alejado del circuito durante dos meses.
