Las intensas nevadas caídas en diferentes puntos del centro y el norte de Portugal han llevado a las autoridades a mantener cortadas 31 carreteras durante la mañana de hoy por las dificultades para circular con seguridad.
Fuentes oficiales lusas confirmaron que entre las zonas con más problemas por la nieve se encuentran, por tercer día consecutivo, los distritos de Guarda y Vila-Real, fronterizos con las provincias españolas de Salamanca y Orense, respectivamente.
El temporal de frío que afronta desde este fin de semana la Península Ibérica ha complicado el tráfico y ha llevado a los servicios de Protección Civil a aumentar la alerta.
Durante estos días, las intensas nevadas también obligaron al cierre de colegios en determinados municipios lusos, algo que no ocurrió hoy por ser festivo en Portugal y no haber clases.
El distrito de Guarda era hoy el más afectado por el corte de carreteras con nueve vías cerradas -entre ellas, tramos de la Nacional 232-, seguido del de Vila Real, con siete.
Además, en el norte del país, en Braga, también hay cortes en el tráfico ferroviario, concretamente en la línea que une Caldas do Geres y Monte de Santa Isabel.
Según el servicio de previsiones del Instituto de Meteorología luso, para hoy se espera nieve en el centro y norte del país a partir de los 500-700 metros de altitud, una cota que se prevé que aumente mañana a 1.000-1.200 metros.
