ZURICH (Reuters)- La farmacéutica Novartis está vendiendolos derechos mundiales de la medicina dermatológica Elidel aMeda por 420 millones de dólares, lo que mejorará la posiciónde la empresa sueca en medicamentos para la piel.
Novartis recibirá un pago por adelantado y Meda seencargará de la fabricación mundial de Elidel tres años despuésde que se cierre el negocio, dijo el jueves en un comunicadoNovartis.
Se espera que la operación se cierre durante el segundotrimestre.
Elidel, que vende al año unos 120 millones de dólares, fueaprobada en Estados Unidos en 2001 y en la Unión Europea un añodespués.
Dependiendo del país, Elidel es usado como terapiasecundaria de corto y largo plazo para la dermatitis atópica enadultos y niños mayores de dos años.
La dermatitis atópica es una enfermedad de la piel crónicaque produce inflamaciones recurrentes y el tratamiento es laprimera crema anti inflamatoria sin esteroides específicamentedesarrolladas para la enfermedad.
