Un número "importante" de los 54 vigilantes de seguridad privada que protegen a los pesqueros españoles en Somalia de los ataques de los piratas han pedido la cuenta en sus empresas y regresarán a España al encontrarse con una situación que "no era la esperada".
El portavoz de la Asociación de Escoltas en Activo del País Vasco, Santiago González, ha explicado, en declaraciones a EFE, que todavía desconocen la cifra exacta de los vigilantes que dejan de forma voluntaria el trabajo en los pesqueros y que esperan su vuelta para conocer con exactitud lo ocurrido.
Según ha dicho, este grupo de vigilantes, que se embarcó el pasado mes de noviembre en los pesqueros, tras el secuestro del atunero "Alakrana" en el Índico, se ha enfrentado a problemas económicos, de armamento y "en algún caso -ha añadido- de convivencia entre ellos, aunque no con los marineros", según ha precisado.
El problema económico no consiste, según ha indicado, en un incumplimiento de las condiciones pactadas, sino que el plus que acordaron (4.000 euros brutos) correspondía a un servicio de ocho horas, cuando en un barco el servicio real es de veinticuatro horas.
Respecto al armamento, González ha señalado que les entregaron una escopeta "y poco más", lo que no resulta "oportuno ni prudente" para enfrentarse a piratas que utilizan armas automáticas. Así no se puede ofrecer el 100 por cien de seguridad, y este es un asunto serio e importante", ha subrayado.
