El regatista italiano Gabriele Olivo, tripulante de comunicación del 'Telefónica Azul', explica que "lo bueno de la situación actual es que lo que queda hasta la meta será casi navegando en línea recta y por velocidad se puede superar al 'Puma'.
"Lo mejor de todo es que el 'Ericsson 4' ha perdido un poco de distancia y está a unas cuatro millas al Sur de nosotros. Perseguimos al 'Puma' mientras que el 'Ericsson 3' y el 'Telefónica Negro' mantienen su particular lucha por la tercera plaza", ha añadido Olivo.
"Creo que nuestro gemelo acaba de pasarles después de dos intensas horas de viradas y nos han ofrecido un gran espectáculo. El "Puma" está a sólo 500 metros por delante de nosotros y el viento está rolando hacia la derecha, lo que nos da algo de ventaja", añadió.
Desde el 'Telefónica Negro', el gallego Antón Paz, tripulante de comunicación del barco comenta: "estamos ya en el segundo día de la etapa con nuestras opciones de hacer podio intactas. Ayer noche nos vimos beneficiados por la bajada de viento y por un par de viradas con roles(cambios de dirección) de más de 20 grados y nosotros apostamos por ser los situados más al Norte".
"En cuanto empezó a salir el sol esta mañana, pudimos comenzar a ver el posicionamiento de todos los rivales. Fue una sorpresa para mí el vernos luchando por el liderato con el "Puma", que pasaba claramente por delante. Después de tres horas y media sufriendo por detrás del 'Ericsson 3', decidimos lanzar un fuerte ataque y le dimos alcance; ahora ya no hay tregua porque los cuatro barcos de cabeza estamos en un pañuelo".
