Un tribunal paquistaní levantó el lunes una prohibición que pesaba sobre la red social online Facebook por realizar un concurso para dibujar al profeta Mahoma, aunque el acceso a cualquier material "blasfemo" seguirá bloqueado en el país, dijeron las autoridades.
Cualquier representación del profeta Mahoma es considerada anti-islámica y blasfema por los musulmanes, que constituyen una abrumadora mayoría en Pakistán, y Facebook fue bloqueado hace dos semanas por la competición de caricaturas online.
El Alto Tribunal de Lahore ordenó el desbloqueo de Facebook tras recibir garantías del Gobierno de que ya no estaría disponible en Pakistán "material blasfemo", dijo el abogado Azhar Siddique a Reuters.
"El Gobierno ha asegurado al tribunal en nombre de la página web que el material blasfemo no se vería en Pakistán", dijo Siddique, un representante del Foro Islámico de Abogados, que pidió la prohibición de Facebook.
La Autoridad de Telecomunicaciones de Pakistán (ATP) dijo que había recibido instrucciones oficiales para desbloquear Facebook excepto los enlaces que contengan "material blasfemo".
"Estamos difundiendo instrucciones a los proveedores de servicios de Internet para restablecer Facebook, lo que se hará por la noche", dijo el portavoz de ATP, Jurram Imran, a Reuters.
Las autoridades paquistaníes también habían bloqueado el acceso a la web de vídeos YouTube por contener material anti-islámico, pero la prohibición fue parcialmente levantada la semana pasada aunque con restricciones en lo que se refiere a "material sacrílego o profano".
