El entrenador de Los Ángeles Lakers, Phil Jackson, confirmó que el ala-pívot Pau Gasol, que sufre un desgarro muscular en la pierna derecha, no jugará el último partido de pretemporada.
Los Lakers (6-1), que la pasada noche vencieron por 106-89 a los Nuggets de Denver, en el penúltimo partido de pretemporada, volverán a enfrentarse hoy, en San Diego, para concluir los encuentros amistosos.
Jackson para cubrir la bajas de Gasol y el pívot Andrew Bynum en los puestos de titulares, puso al reserva DJ Mbenga, que hizo una gran labor defensiva al conseguir ocho puntos y poner siete tapones, con dos rebotes y dos asistencias.
Gasol se ha perdido ya cinco partidos de pretemporada y todavía no está confirmado que pueda jugar el próximo martes cuando de comienzo la competición regular con el encuentro inaugural que van a disputar los Lakers frente a Los Ángeles Clippers, en el Staples Center, con la entrega de los anillos de campeones de la NBA.
El jugador español disputó los dos primeros partidos de la pretemporada que fueron ambos contra los Warriors de Golden State, con un triunfo de 118-101 y una derrota por 91-110, respectivamente.
Gasol en el primer partido logró 11 puntos con ocho rebotes rebotes y cuatro asistencias, mientras que en el segundo llegó a los 12 tantos y bajó a tres rebotes con tres asistencias.
"No hay nada decidido sobre la condición física que pueda tener Pau para el próximo martes, lo que si tenemos claro es que frente a los Nuggets, tampoco va a jugar", comentó Jackson.
