Un crucero de la compañía italiana MSC Crociere, el "Melody", con más de mil pasajeros a bordo, consiguió escapar a un ataque pirata cuando se encontraba a 180 millas al norte de las islas Seychelles, informaron hoy los medios italianos en sus ediciones digitales.
Seis personas armadas con fusiles Kalashnikov a bordo de una embarcación ligera dispararon anoche contra el crucero, pero gracias a las maniobras evasivas del comandante la nave logró escapar, según las mismas fuentes.
Ninguno de los pasajeros a bordo de la nave de cruceros sufrió heridas a acusa de los disparos y todos se encuentran en buen estado de salud.
Según los medios, el personal de seguridad del crucero respondió al fuego de los piratas. En el momento del ataque, el crucero se encontraba a 180 millas al norte de Puerto Victoria, la capital de la República de Seychelles, en el Océano Indico.
El crucero, que había pasado la noche anterior atracado en un puerto de las Seychelles, se dirigía al puerto de Aqaba, en Jordania.
En su edición digital, el diario "Corriere della Sera" informó de que el director general de MSC Crociere, Doemnico Pellegrino, ha podido hablar con la tripulación a bordo del "Melody" y le han asegurado que están "todos bien", así como que durante el ataque no se vivieron escenas de pánico y que la nave prosigue con su ruta.
