El profesor agredido por intentar defender a una mujer maltratada por su pareja salió el jueves del hospital tras permanecer ingresado ocho meses, en una despedida emotiva entre aplausos de enfermos y personal sanitario el día que cumple 56 años.
Su mujer e hijos acompañaron a Jesús Neira en su salida del centro médico y afuera le esperaban amigos con una sorpresa especial al lanzar al aire 256 globos blancos por los que días que ha pasado en el hospital, y 56 globos rojos por los años que cumple.
"No lo esperaba, estoy muy emocionado, muchas gracias", dijo Neira a los medios de comunicación congregados a las puertas del Hospital Puerta de Hierro de Majadahonda.
"Vuelvo a la vida", dijo Neira, que aún camina con muletas, y terminará de recuperarse en casa.
Neira se hizo famoso a su pesar cuando sufrió el pasado agosto la agresión de Antonio Puerta, el hombre que estaba maltratando a su pareja cuando Neira acudió en su defensa.
Su gesto y su posterior entrada en coma a causa de las lesiones recibidas conmocionaron a la opinión pública.
La Comunidad de Madrid nombró a Jesús Neira presidente del Consejo Asesor del Observatorio Regional de Violencia de Género.
