Carlos Puyol salió al paso de las primeras críticas dirigidas a la defensa de la selección española y afirmó que en el grupo que dirige Luis Aragonés defienden y atacan "todos", por lo que pidió que se hable "del equipo y no sólo de jugadores".
"Sabemos que en el fútbol siempre hay críticas, son buenas cuando son constructivas. Está claro que ese gol no teníamos que haberlo encajado por un error nuestro, creo que tampoco se tiene que culpar sólo a un jugador. Aquí defendemos y atacamos todos. Ganamos y perdemos todos. Creo que hay que hablar del equipo y no sólo de jugadores", dijo en la rueda de prensa que ofreció nada más quedar concentrado en Puente Viesgo el equipo español.
Preguntado por si es la defensa el punto débil de España, Puyol repartió la responsabilidad entre todos los jugadores que están cada partido sobre el campo.
"Respeto las opiniones pero tengo muy claro que lo que tenemos que hacer es trabajar. Es verdad que tenemos muy buenos delanteros, gente en el medio campo con mucha calidad pero también buenos defensas. Lo que hay que hacer es trabajar como equipo, no intentar partir", afirmó.
En ese sentido señaló al medio centro como una figura clave para el equipo, por la estabilidad defensiva que da. "Es el jugador que da equilibrio al equipo, tiene que trabajar muchísimo y tácticamente tiene que estar muy bien porque, si no, podemos tener problemas", subrayó.
