De acuerdo con los pronósticos, el número dos del mundo, el español Rafael Nadal, se clasificó hoy para la segunda ronda del torneo de Wimbledon tras imponer su tenis en la pista Central al del alemán Andreas Beck por 6-4, 6-4 y 7-6 (0).
El zurdo de manacor progresó en la "Catedral" tras 2 horas y 20 minutos y tendrá como próximo adversario al letón Ernest Gulbis, que eliminó al estadounidense John Isner (USA)
El primer parcial vio a Beck, un jugador que venía de la fase previa, mucho más suelto de lo que se preveía y a un Nadal, clarísimo favorito en esta primera prueba, que no dejó ver síntomas de debilidad prácticamente en ningún momento.
Rafa salió a ganar. Al tetracampeón de Roland Garros, que lograba su primera bola de ruptura del partido en el 3-4, le funcionó muy bien el primer servicio, consiguiendo un total de 17 "aces" frente a los 4 que se anotó Beck.
El campeón de París fue poco a poco imponiendo su juego ante el germano, que esgrimió un buen resto para tratar de minar la potencia del balear, pero sus intentos eran insuficientes ante la solvencia y la determinación de Nadal.
En 37 minutos, el segundo cabeza de serie consolidó el 6-4 y se adentró con ventaja en el segundo acto, que duró apenas dos minutos más que el primero y concluyó con un idéntico resultado a favor del mallorquín.
De nuevo, el manacorense lidió con pericia el juego agresivo de su rival alemán, hasta sentirse de nuevo cómodo en la cancha.
La situación volvió a ser favorable al juego de Nadal, que incurrió en 4 dobles faltas, una más que Beck, al inicio del tercer parcial, que duró 64 minutos.
En este último set se empleó a fondo el 123 del mundo, quien llegó a virar el marcador con 4-3 a su favor.
