El presidente del PP, Mariano Rajoy, analizó hoy con la canciller alemana, Angela Merkel, la situación del paro en España tras el incremento "salvaje" que considera que ha sufrido el desempleo en los últimos meses.
Rajoy y Merkel mantuvieron hoy una entrevista en Varsovia aprovechando la presencia de ambos en el Congreso extraordinario que el PPE celebra en la capital polaca.
En la reunión, según fuentes del PP, el líder de este partido comentó a la canciller algunas cuestiones relativas a la situación en España, especialmente en el ámbito económico.
Entre ellas, le explicó algunos detalles de lo que está generando el incremento "salvaje" del paro.
Ante esa situación, Merkel, según las mismas fuentes, le planteó la posibilidad de que haya actuaciones conjuntas por parte de los países para hacer frente en toda Europa a un desafío de estas características.
La canciller alemana expresó su satisfacción por los resultados que consiguió el partido de Rajoy en las elecciones gallegas y vascas del pasado 1 de marzo.
Un reconocimiento que se suma al que el pasado lunes transmitió también al líder del PP el presidente de Francia, Nicolás Sarkozy, durante la reunión que ambos mantuvieron en Madrid durante la visita de Estado que realizó el dirigente francés.
Rajoy trasladó hoy a Merkel su convencimiento de que el Partido Popular va a contribuir en España al éxito del PPE en las elecciones europeas del 7 de junio.
La entrevista entre ambos se celebró minutos antes de que Rajoy interviniera brevemente ante el plenario del Congreso del PPE para asegurar que el paro y la inmigración ilegal son dos de los grandes problemas de España.
En ese contexto, reprochó especialmente la regularización masiva de inmigrantes que, a su juicio, protagonizó en la legislatura pasada el Gobierno de José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
