La ex candidata socialista a las presidenciales francesas, Ségolène Royal, pidió perdón al presidente de Gobierno español, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, para atajar los "patinazos verbales" del jefe de Estado francés, Nicolas Sarkozy, y porque "es un amigo".
La líder socialista criticó la "arrogancia" y la "falta de educación" del presidente francés, al que reprochó no haberse excusado rápidamente ante Rodríguez Zapatero, incluso en el caso de que sus palabras hubieran sido malinterpretadas.
Estas son las explicaciones ofrecidas por Royal, que en una entrevista publicada hoy por el diario Le Parisien señaló que "el día en que Sarkozy cambie de modo de expresión y aprenda a respetar a los demás" dejará de pedir perdón, pero mientras tanto seguirá "defendiendo la república del respeto".
Consideró "natural" la carta que envió la semana pasada al jefe del Gobierno español solicitando sus excusas por las palabras del presidente francés del miércoles en que lo nombraba "en primer lugar porque José Luis (Rodríguez) Zapatero es un amigo".
Además, se trataba de "poner fin a los patinazos verbales" de Sarkozy tanto sobre personalidades políticas internacionales, como el presidente estadounidense, Barack Obama, o la canciller alemana, Angela Merkel, como sobre franceses.
El diario Libération publicó -como luego han confirmado varios parlamentarios presentes- que Sarkozy dijo en tono irónico el miércoles ante un grupo de parlamentarios franceses que Rodríguez Zapatero "tal vez no es muy inteligente" pero consiguió ser reelegido.
De acuerdo con Libération Sarkozy añadió que conocía a otros "muy inteligentes y no estuvieron en la segunda vuelta de las presidenciales", en alusión al ex primer ministro socialista francés Lionel Jospin, que en 2002 quedó apeado en la primera vuelta de los comicios al ser adelantado por quien sería luego presidente, Jacques Chirac, pero también por el ultraderechista Jean-Marie Le Pen.
