Como era previsible, la ministra de Economía y Hacienda, Elena Salgado, se ha sumado a las críticas contra el ex futbolista francés Éric Cantona por animar a los ciudadanos a retirar su dinero de los bancos durante este martes como medida de protesta contra el papel desempeñado por el sector durante la crisis.
"Yo creo que estas medidas pueden ser más o menos efectistas pero poco prácticas", ha señalado la vicepresidenta segunda del Gobierno, antes de participar en la reunión mensual de ministros de Finanzas europeos, en Bruselas.
A juicio de Salgado, la forma de garantizar el buen comportamiento del sector financiero es "regularlo", tarea en la que ya está inmersa la Unión Europea. "Me parece que tenemos que hacer otras cosas. Tenemos que regular mejor el sistema financiero y en eso estamos", ha abundado.
Salgado no es la única que se opone a la iniciativa del ex futbolista. "Soy del Manchester United, pero pienso que el señor Cantona es mejor futbolista que economista", dijo anoche el comisario de Asuntos Económicos y Monetarios, Olli Rehn.
"Es una operación totalmente irresponsable", criticó sin tapujos el presidente del Eurogrupo, el luxemburgués Jean Claude Juncker, para quien "un ciudadano no debería inducir a un error a gente corriente que no tiene los ahorros que él tiene".
Cantona lanzó su proyecto "¡Revolución! El 7 de diciembre, vamos todos a sacar nuestro dinero de los bancos" hace dos meses. Partiendo de la declaración del ex futbolista, una iniciativa por Facebook cuenta ya con más de 34.000 inscritos en Francia, y ramificaciones en otros siete países, especialmente en Bélgica.
