El ministro de Industria, Turismo y Comercio, Miguel Sebastián, explicó hoy que el plan VIVE tiene como objetivo "potencial" los 4,5 millones de vehículos con una antigüedad de más 15 años que hay en España y que sus principales fines son medioambientales y de seguridad vial.
En un almuerzo organizado por Nueva Economía Forum, Sebastián dijo que el objetivo del plan es "llegar al mayor número de coches posible", aunque evitó hacer un pronóstico del número de vehículos que terminaran acogiéndose.
El plan VIVE (Vehículo Innovador-Vehículo Ecológico), que Sebastián anunció ayer en el Congreso, incluye ayudas a la compra para los ciudadanos que se deshagan de coches de más de 15 años y adquieran alguno que emita menos de 120 gr/km de dióxido de carbono (CO2).
El programa tendrá una vigencia de dos años y está previsto que se ponga en marcha en 45 días.
Aunque aún no se han terminado de concretar las ayudas, Sebastián avanzó hoy la apertura de una línea de crédito de 1.500 millones de euros con el Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO) para financiar la compra de estos vehículos menos contaminantes.
El ministro recordó que los principales objetivos de esta medida son medioambientales y de seguridad vial, no tanto reactivar la demanda de automóviles, que es un fin secundario.
