Iker Casillas, Cesc Fàbregas, Fernando Torres, Andrés Iniesta, David Villa y Xavi son los seis aspirantes españoles que tendrán que enfrentarse al ganador del año pasado Cristiano Ronaldo y al argentino Lionel Messi por el Balón de Oro 2009.
La lista de 30 jugadores aspirantes al premio fue publicada el domingo, y resalta la ausencia de jugadores italianos y alemanes.
Ningún miembro de Italia, selección campeona del mundo, ni Alemania, finalista de la Eurocopa 2008, aparecen en la lista distribuida por la revista organizadora France Football en su página web (www.francefootball.fr).
El resultado de la votación, llevada a cabo por periodistas deportivos para nombrar al ganador del premio antes conocido como el Futbolista Europeo del Año, será anunciado el 1 de diciembre.
Otros aspirantes son Karim Benzema, Samuel Eto'o, Thierry Henry, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Kaká, Lionel Messi, Luis Fabiano, Franck Ribéry y Wayne Rooney.
