El presidente del PPC, Daniel Sirera, ha revelado hoy que en las últimas semanas ha mantenido "diversas conversaciones" con el presidente del grupo del PPC en el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona, Alberto Fernández Díaz, para intentar que éste retire su candidatura y acepte una lista "de integración".
En declaraciones a Efe, Sirera se ha referido de este modo a la petición que hoy ha hecho el vicesecretario general del PPC, Xavier García Albiol, a ambos para que configuren una candidatura conjunta "antes" del congreso del PP nacional, que se celebra dentro de una semana.
Sirera ha asumido el compromiso de intentar una candidatura conjunta "antes" del cónclave de Valencia, y ha interpretado que la apelación de García Albiol "va más dirigida a Alberto Fernández que hacia a mí, puesto que sabe él perfectamente que estoy haciendo esfuerzos para ello".
El presidente del PPC ha agradecido a Garcia Albiol "sus esfuerzos por lograr una única candidatura", y ha precisado que ha trasladado a Fernández Díaz "en diversas ocasiones la necesidad de llegar a un acuerdo para que el partido llegue unido al congreso" del 5 y 6 de julio.
"Yo no he descartado nunca esta posibilidad", ha dicho Sirera, que promete hacer lo que esté "en su mano" para tratar de lograr esa candidatura de consenso, lo que implica también "un programa y una estrategia conjunta", ha precisado.
Por otra parte, ha asegurado que si Fernández Díaz gana el congreso pretende repetir como cabeza de lista al Ayuntamiento de Barcelona en lugar de ser el candidato del PPC a la presidencia de la Generalitat, algo que ve contradictorio con la práctica habitual en el PP y en el PPC.
"Lo normal es que el presidente del PPC sea el candidato a la Generalitat", ha remarcado Sirera, que ha tildado a Fernández Díaz de "magnífico candidato" al consistorio barcelonés.
