La tasa de paro de la encuesta de la población activa (EPA) subió en el cuarto trimestre de 2009 hasta el 18,83 por ciento desde el 17,93% del trimestre anterior, su nivel más alto desde el primer trimestre de 1998, según datos divulgados el viernes por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE).
Una encuesta elaborada por Reuters apuntaba a una tasa de paro del 18,5 por ciento en el cuarto trimestre.
El número de parados aumentó en 203.200 personas respecto al trimestre anterior y se situó en un total de 4.326.500.
El número de ocupados descendió en 224.200 personas en el cuarto trimestre de 2009 respecto al trimestre anterior y se sitúa en 18.845.900.
La tasa de actividad es del 59,76 por ciento, lo que supone 0,06 puntos menos que en el trimestre anterior.
