El Liverpool se hizo el domingo con una victoria por 2-0 contra el Manchester United, el campeón de la Premier.
Fernando Torres marcó un gol en el minuto 65 y David Ngog sumó el segundo en el tiempo añadido para dar al Liverpool unos merecidos tres puntos tras haber perdido sus cuatro partidos anteriores en todas las competiciones.
El United, que acabó con 10 hombres después de la expulsión por tarjeta roja de Nemanja Vidic por tirar al suelo a Dirk Kuyt en el minuto 89, tiene motivos para quejarse, aunque Antonio Valencia intentó hacer un último tiro contra el travesaño para los visitantes.
Javier Mascherano también fue expulsado en el tiempo añadido.
El Chelsea está en el número uno de la clasificación con 24 puntos en 10 partidos, y el United tiene 22. El Tottenham Hotspur cuenta con 19 puntos mientras que el Liverpool está empatado a 18 con el Arsenal y el Manchester City. Ambos equipos jugarán el domingo por la tarde.
El Everton, rival tradicional del Liverpool, fue derrotado por 3-2 por el Bolton Wanderers.
