"Tres vidas de santos", el nuevo volumen de relatos de Eduardo Mendoza, llegará a las librerías el próximo 20 de octubre, en una entrega narrativa cuya única ligazón argumental es la inconfundible y personal voz de su narrador.
El trío de relatos que integran "Tres vidas de santos" recrean una ambientación muy diversa y ofrecen, tomándolos por separado, evidentes rasgos distintivos con una profunda unidad temática, al quedar enlazados no por su argumento sino por la línea discursiva que los sustenta.
"La ballena", el relato más largo y completo, es también el más cercano a las crónicas barcelonesas que han hecho célebre al escritor catalán, y se ubica en los tiempos del congreso eucarístico de 1952.
"El final de Dubslav" es el más dramático de los tres relatos, ofrece una ambientación geográfica insólita que muestra un Mendoza "de rotunda intensidad existencial", según la editorial Seix Barral, encargada de la publicación.
"El malentendido" es una reflexión sobre la literatura y el difícil diálogo entre clases sociales, aunque puede leerse también como una variación seria en torno al personaje del Lumpen, como el protagonista de "El misterio de la cripta embrujada".
Los santos interpretados por Mendoza mantienen tal condición "en la medida en que consagran su vida a una lucha agónica entre lo humano y lo divino", y la mayoría de ellos parte de una idea equivocada, de un trauma psicológico.
