Las tropas de la OTAN desplegadas en Afganistán han enviado un camión con ayuda humanitaria y han prestado asistencia médica a las víctimas del terremoto que ayer sacudió el este afgano, informó hoy la organización militar.
Según un comunicado, la Fuerza Internacional de Asistencia a la Seguridad (ISAF), bajo mando de la OTAN, envió un camión cargado con cinco toneladas de alimentos, agua, tiendas de campaña y mantas, entre otras provisiones, a las zonas afectadas por el seísmo.
Los miembros del Equipo de Reconstrucción Provincial de la ISAF en la provincia oriental de Nangarhar, donde se registró el epicentro del seísmo, tuvieron dificultades para llegar a las remotas zonas afectadas por los temblores.
Los militares prestaron asistencia médica a los heridos, mientras que miembros del Ejército afgano, funcionarios de las administraciones locales y lugareños distribuyeron los paquetes de ayuda.
Un seísmo de 5,1 grados de magnitud en la escala abierta de Richter sacudió la madrugada del viernes una vulnerable zona tribal del este afgano y causó la muerte de 20 personas y heridas a otras 50.
Unas 3.000 personas de 290 familias se han visto afectadas por el seísmo, agregó la ISAF.
La zona más afectada por el temblor, que tuvo una réplica, fue el distrito de Shirzad, a unos 85 kilómetros de Kabul.
El seísmo tuvo una profundidad de 3,2 kilómetros y se dejó sentir en Pakistán, en concreto en Islamabad y la ciudad vecina de Rawalpindi, aunque no se registraron víctimas.
