La Unión Europea ha descartado por ahora la propuesta francesa de suspender los vuelos hacia México para frenar la extensión de la gripe porcina, anunció hoy la ministra francesa de Sanidad, Rosalyne Bachelot.
Una mayoría de países comunitarios rechazó esta iniciativa durante el Consejo de Ministros de Sanidad de la UE que estudia medidas comunes contra el brote de gripe, dijo Bachelot en unas breves declaraciones al abandonar la reunión, que todavía no ha concluido.
Empleados de Air France habían negado a volar a México, mientras que en España, que también rechaza las restricciones a los vuelos, el sindicato de auxiliares de vuelo ha denunciado que Iberia no les permite usar guantes ni mascarillas en vuelos con riesgo de que sobrecargos y azafatas puedan ser contagiados.
Bachelot explicó que "Francia habría querido que se aprobaran, si fuera necesario, medidas de suspensión de vuelos", pero reconoció que varios países "no estaban dispuestos en la situación actual a que se aprobaran medidas inmediatamente" sobre los destinos aéreos hacia México.
Además, reconoció que el Gobierno francés no planea aplicar por su cuenta una decisión en este sentido, ya que "no tiene sentido" salvo que una medida así tenga un apoyo unánime o casi general en el conjunto de la UE. La portavoz de Sanidad en la Comisión Europea (CE), Nina Papadoulaki, confirmó que hoy no habrá una decisión en este sentido.
