El número de pasajeros que usó el avión para sus desplazamientos en España acumuló en los dos primeros meses de 2009 una caída del 21 por ciento con respecto a igual período de 2008, frente a un aumento del 9,4 por ciento de los usuarios del tren de alta velocidad.
Aunque la tendencia continuó en febrero a la baja, la caída del volumen de usuarios del avión en trayectos nacionales fue, con el 19%, inferior a la registrada en enero, cuando descendió el 23,2%, según datos difundidos hoy por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE).
En febrero, el volumen de usuarios del avión fue de 2,7 millones, mientras que el de los del AVE superó los 1,6 millones, lo que supone un incremento del 4,9% respecto al mismo mes del ejercicio anterior. Este aumento fue, no obstante, inferior al de enero, cuando se alcanzó el 14,4%.
A pesar del incremento registrado por el AVE, el ferrocarril tuvo en febrero el 10,8% de pasajeros menos que hace un año, debido al descenso de los usuarios de cercanías, que fue del 12,4%, hasta los 34,3 millones, y acumula en lo que va de año una caída del 8,7%.
También sufrió un retroceso, aunque más suave que en enero, el transporte por carretera, donde el volumen de viajeros que utilizó el autobús en sus desplazamientos interurbanos disminuyó un 1,2% y acumula una disminución del 2,1% hasta febrero.
De esta forma, el número total de viajeros del transporte interurbano se redujo en febrero el 4,1%, hasta los 149,2 millones de usuarios, la misma caída que la que experimentó en enero.
