Las fuerzas de seguridad afganas y las tropas internacionales aseguraron hoy haber abatido o detenido a los miembros de un grupo numeroso de supuestos insurgentes en dos operaciones militares lanzadas en las provincias de Maydan Wardak y Zabul, en el centro y sur de Afganistán.
La comandancia de EEUU precisó que una fuerza conjunta de las tropas extranjeras y afganas acabó hoy con la vida de un grupo de combatientes enemigos durante una ofensiva que tenía como objetivo un cabecilla talibán supuestamente responsable de ataques armados en el distrito de Naw Bahar, perteneciente a Zabul.
Según un comunicado, durante la ofensiva un grupo de hombres armados abrieron fuego contra las tropas, quienes respondieron al ataque matando a los insurgentes.
Tras el tiroteo, los militares hallaron un chaleco cargado con explosivos, rifles de asalto AK-47, cinturones con munición y aparatos de comunicación.
En la provincia de Maydan Wardak, las tropas lanzaron otra operación contra refugios de la insurgencia que se saldó con varios muertos y detenidos en el distrito de Chaki.
Las víctimas y los arrestados son sospechosos de estar implicados en ataques armados y contrabando de armas.
En el lugar de la ofensiva, las fuerzas de seguridad hallaron material para la fabricación de explosivos, pistolas, rifles de asalto y munición.
Los choques no causaron víctimas civiles, de acuerdo con la versión del mando militar estadounidense.
Los combates entre las fuerzas de seguridad afganas e internacionales y la insurgencia son frecuentes en Afganistán, especialmente en las provincias del sur donde los talibanes tienen sus bastiones más importantes.
