La filósofa Victoria Camps ha sido elegida hoy ganadora del XXII Premio Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, que convoca cada año la institución académica que lleva el nombre del historiador y que tiene su sede en Santander.
Desde su nacimiento en 1987, este galardón pretende reconocer la trayectoria literaria o científica de personalidades cuya obra siga las directrices de vocación y dimensión humanística que impuso el polígrafo español Marcelino Menéndez Pelayo (1856-1912), pensador, crítico, traductor, y poeta de la literatura española e hispanoamericana.
El premio se concede únicamente a personas de países de habla hispana o portuguesa, y las Universidades, Academias e Instituciones vinculadas con el mundo de la literatura, la ciencia y las humanidades son las encargadas de ir sugiriendo posibles candidatos a lo largo del año.
Los galardonados de los últimos cinco años son el ex presidente de Colombia Belisario Betancur (2007), el jurista español Eduardo García de Enterría (2006), el poeta uruguayo Mario Benedetti (2005), el filósofo español Emilio Lledó Íñigo (2004) y la escritora brasileña Nélida Piñón (2003).
