David Villa, delantero internacional del Valencia, se situó a cuatro goles del camerunés Samuel Eto'o (Barcelona), líder destacado de los artilleros de la Primera división española, Liga BBVA, con 26 dianas tras disputarse la 30 jornada, en la que el técnico Josep Guardiola le dio descanso.
La pasada semana dos penaltis permitieron a Villa recortar su desventaja. En esta ocasión, otra pena máxima colaboró en el triunfo de su equipo ante el Sporting en El Molinón e incrementó su cuenta a 22.
