Wall Street abrió a la baja el miércoles debido a que los resultados trimestrales de tres grandes bancos estadounidenses incrementaron la preocupación sobre el estado de las compañías financieras y debido a informaciones sobre las restricciones crediticias de los bancos en China.
El promedio industrial Dow Jones cedía un 1,23 por ciento a 10.593,63 puntos. El más amplio Standard & Poor's 500 se dejaba un 1,06 por ciento a 1.138,05.
El índice tecnológico Nasdaq Composite se depreciaba un 1,02 por ciento a 2.296,69 unidades.
Bank of America publicó unas pérdidas trimestrales mayores de lo esperado, y Morgan Stanley informó de unos resultados trimestrales por debajo de las estimaciones, mientras que Wells Fargo dio a conocer un beneficio trimestral debido a un repunte a los ingresos por comisiones.
Por otra parte, medios oficiales y fuentes bancarias dijeron que las autoridades chinas ordenaron a algunos de los mayores bancos a frenar sus préstamos para el resto del mes después de una explosión crediticia inicial.
