La Comisión Europea (CE) se ha mostrado escéptica ante el anuncio de Microsoft de que venderá en Europa la nueva versión de su sistema operativo Windows sin el navegador Internet Explorer, al considerar que esto podría ir en detrimento de los consumidores.
El gigante de la informática anunció que los usuarios europeos de Windows 7, que en octubre sucederá a Vista, tendrán que instalar ellos mismos un navegador, un movimiento con el que la empresa estadounidense pretende satisfacer las exigencias de la Unión Europea en materia de competencia.
Sin embargo, Bruselas no se ha mostrado totalmente satisfecha con la decisión de la empresa y considera que, aunque la venta de Windows sin Explorer puede tener beneficios para los fabricantes de ordenadores, no será buena para los usuarios.
En un comunicado difundido anoche, el Ejecutivo comunitario ha recordado que había sugerido a Microsoft que ofreciese varios navegadores alternativos en sus sistemas operativos. "En lugar de eso, Microsoft aparentemente ha decidido ofrecer a los consumidores una versión de Windows sin ningún navegador. En lugar de más oferta, Microsoft parece haber decidido ofrecer menos", ha señalado la CE.
