Cada día una noticia nueva. Nadie quiere quedarse sin subirse al tren más codiciado del momento, el cine en internet. La última novedad la ha dado la rama española del gigante Warner. Ayer anunciaba que, el próximo 3 de mayo, Tres metros sobre el cielo, la película española más taquillera de 2010 con 9,8 millones de euros de recaudación y más de 1.550.000 espectadores, se convertirá en el primer gran lanzamiento en plataformas digitales del cine nacional. La película estará disponible en Ono, Movistar Imagenio, Orange e iTunes, entre otras plataformas, además de en los soportes físicos de DVD y Blu-Ray.
Basada en el best-seller del escritor Federico Moccia y protagonizada por Mario Casas y María Valverde, la película se ha convertido en uno de los fenómenos fan más importantes de nuestro país. De hecho, más de 130.000 personas son seguidores de la película en la red social Tuenti y más de 100.000 en Facebook, datos que las distribuidoras toman cada vez más en cuenta.
Como indica el presidente de la patronal de productores españoles, Pedro Pérez, Warner, líder de las taquilla mundiales en los últimos años, es uno de los estudios americanos más agresivos en su estrategia de cine online. De hecho, Warner, a la que se han sumado ahora Universal y Sony, fue el primer estudio en firmar un acuerdo con YouTube para el alquiler de películas en la red en EEUU.
La incorporación de las producciones de esos tres grandes de Hollywood al catálogo de YouTube supondrá un revulsivo para el servicio de alquileres que compite con iTunes, Amazon o Netflix en EEUU.
Warner es también parte de la iniciativa Ultraviolet, junto a Universal, Paramount, Fox y Sony que pretende resucitar el alquiler y la compra de películas en casa, ahora a través de internet. Se espera que este sea el servicio más agresivo de cine online a nivel internacional, que podría estar listo y en funcionamiento a mediados de este año.
