El programa de exposiciones dedicado a la joven creación japonesa de la Fundació Miró concluye con la única muestra protagonizada por un hombre. Tras las lolitas perversas de Aya Takano y Chiho Aoshima y los autorretratos (pintados o fotografiados) de Enina Matsui y Tomoko Sawada, llega la primera y única exposición consagrada a la escultura en este refrescante ciclo. Kohei Nawa (Osaka, 1975) se aleja del tono decorativo y lanza una reflexión sobre los excesos de la sociedad de la información y, de paso, reta a los sentidos del espectador.
Un tomate de plástico, un zapato, un muñeco o un imponente ciervo disecado (que es una de las piezas centrales de la muestra), son algunos de los objetos que sirven de punto de partida de las esculturas de este joven artista japonés. Estos elementos se cubren con grandes bolas de cristal que los embellecen, pero también distorsionan. "El objetivo es recrear completamente ese objeto inicial, olvidar que tiene un referente", cuenta Kohei Nawa.
Y de la misma forma que una imagen digital es el origen de sus objetos, este creador reduce a píxeles la realidad. De hecho, la serie de esculturas que presenta recibe el nombre de PixCells (un juego de palabras entre píxel y célula). "La idea es reducir a puntos ese objeto real, de la misma forma que lo haría una cámara digital, añadiéndole una calidad escultórica. Lo importante no es el objeto que se esconde debajo de las cuentas de cristal", añade.
