Thomas Marth, saxofonista del grupo The Killers, fue encontrado muerto el lunes en su residencia de Las Vegas (Nevada), en lo que parece que ha sido un suicidio, informó este jueves la prensa estadounidense.
Un portavoz de la oficina forense de Las Vegas confirmó al portal E! News que el cuerpo del músico fue hallado el lunes por la mañana y que la causa que se maneja por el momento es el suicidio.
Marth, de 33 años, estuvo presente en la gira mundial de la banda entre 2008 y 2009 y participó en la grabación de los discos Sam's Town (2006) y Day & Age (2008), el segundo y el tercer álbum del grupo, en donde aparecen temas tan conocidos como Read My Mind o Human.
"Hemos perdido a Thomas. Nuestras oraciones están con su familia. Esta noche falta una luz en Las Vegas. Buen viaje, Tommy", escribió la formación desde su perfil oficial en Twitter.
Marth también tocó en varias bandas locales de Las Vegas, como The Big Friendly Corporation y Black Camaro. "Estoy intentando comprender qué es lo que ha ocurrido y ayudando a algunas personas (de su familia) que no lo están pasando muy bien", dijo el músico Ryan Pardey al periódico Las Vegas Weekly. "Era una de las personas con más talento de la comunidad y uno de mis amigos más cercanos desde los 18 años", añadió.
Antes de lograr el éxito con The Killers pasó años trabajando en algunos de los locales más conocidos de Las Vegas, como The Freakin' Frog, Revolution Lounge, The Royal Resort y el Hard Rock Hotel.
"He estado aquí toda mi vida. Hasta hace unos pocos años, estuve trabajando en todos los clubes nocturnos de Las Vegas, pinchando música y tocando", explicaba el propio Marth a Las Vegas Weekly en septiembre de 2008.
