La selección española deberá enfrentarse a Ucrania, Eslovaquia, Bielorrusia, Macedonia y Luxemburgo en el Grupo C en la fase de clasificación para la Eurocopa de 2016, que se disputará del 10 de junio al 10 de julio de ese año en Francia.
Tras el sorteo celebrado este domingo en Niza (Francia), el conjunto de Vicente del Bosque, que defenderá corona en el torneo de naciones francés, que por primera vez pasará a tener 24 equipos en lugar de los 16 de las últimas citas, afrontará los duelos desde el 7 de septiembre de este año al 13 de octubre de 2015.
El sorteo deparó que España se enfrentase a Gibraltar, pero el combinado británico tuvo que pasar directamente al Grupo D por no poder coincidir con el español para evitar conflictos geopolíticos —una situación que también se hubiese producido en el caso de Azerbaiyán y Armenia—.
