El próximo mes de noviembre, el Papa Benedicto XVI visitará Barcelona y Santiago de Compostela, motivo por el que un millar de personalidades han suscrito una misiva redactada para conmemorar la segunda visita del pontífice a España.
Gente como Mayor Oreja, Ana Botella, Duran i Lleida, Rafa Nadal, Isabel San Sebastián, María San Gil o Martínez Pujalte han firmado la carta, en la que agradecen la 'incansable defensa de la dignidad humana y de los valores que necesita el mundo de hoy' que hace el Papa y que 'muestran una honda sensibilidad por los problemas a los que se enfrenta la humanidad en los comienzos del siglo XXI'.
En la misiva, los firmantes suscriben el ataque a las políticas progresistas asegurando que el 'relativismo' es 'la fuente inspiradora de iniciativas contrarias al derecho a la vida, a la familia y a los derechos de los padres como primeros responsables de la educación de sus hijos'. Ese relativismo 'pretende prescindir de las categorías del Bien, la Verdad y la Belleza', asegura la carta.
Numerosos miembros del PP firman la misiva
A los ya mencionados, también se unen un buen número de miembros del Partido Popular, entre los que se encuentran Jorge Fernández Díaz, vicepresidente tercero del Congreso; David Pérez, diputado de la Asamblea de Madrid; o Jaime García-Legaz Ponce, diputado y secretario general de FAES. En total, la web BB16.com publica un millar de nombres que suscriben la carta de bienvenida.
La misma carta que también menciona el tema de los abusos sexuales a menores, calificadas como 'conductas indignas' protagonizadas por 'algunos miembros de la Iglesia'. Los firmantes aseguran que Benedicto XVI 'ha dado ejemplo de humildad y transparencia' en la gestión del escándalo. También añaden que 'la humanidad del Papa' se ve 'en su permanente estímulo al compromiso social de la Iglesia', al ser 'la primera en ayudar a los más necesitados', entre los que menciona a 'enfermos de Sida', 'presos' y 'menores abandonados'.
