La Iglesia ya ha dado su bendición al PP por su victoria. Lo ha hecho a través del presidente de la Conferencia Episcopal, Antonio María Rouco Varela, quien ha ofrecido su "apoyo espiritual" a Rajoy "en estos tiempos difíciles".
Rouco Varela ha deseado al conservador que desempeñe su "noble y decisiva tarea" con "acierto, serenidad y espíritu de servicio". El arzobispo de Madrid cree que "urge intensificar" la respuesta pastoral ante la "gravísima" crisis económica, para lo que ha pedido aumentar los recursos económicos de la Iglesia a través de Cáritas.
El prelado ha vuelto a analizar la situación económica y sus "causas más profundas", que para Rouco Varela se deben "en síntesis y en el fondo" a "la pérdida de valores morales, que va de la mano del relativismo y olvido de dios y su santa ley".
A su juicio, las consecuencias son "la corrupción política y económica, la codicia, la búsqueda del propio interés a toda costa, el menosprecio de la vida humana mediante políticas y conductas abortistas y antinatalistas, la desproporción y la disolución institucional del matrimonio y de la familia, la instrumentalización y el deterioro de la educación". "Todo ello no puede conducir más que a situaciones sociales y económicas muy delicadas", ha agregado.
