Una clínica milanesa incentiva con 3.000 euros al año a aquellos enfermeros que se laven bien las manos, con el fin de combatir las infecciones hospitalarias entre los bebés prematuros, según ha informado hoy el diario italiano Corriere della Sera.
Se trata de la clínica Mangiagalli de Milán, que asegura que las infecciones han disminuido en un 30% un año, desde que se puso en marcha la iniciativa bajo el nombre Mani pulite (Manos limpias).
El personal sanitario del centro, en el que cada año se atienden unos mil casos de recién nacidos, es grabado con cámaras de vídeo en circuito cerrado mientras se lavan las manos antes de tratar a sus pacientes y los que lo hacen de un modo correcto son recompensados.
El promotor de la iniciativa fue el responsable de neonatología de la clínica, Fabio Mosca, para quien la sección de "terapia intensiva neonatal es uno de los departamentos con mayor riesgo de infecciones por el tipo de pacientes que atienden: bebés prematuros o que sufren enfermedades graves y debilitadoras".
